HHS Students Safe

Dear HHS Families,
I am writing to inform you that Honesdale High School was evacuated this morning for an incident that was not a drill. In the elevator foyer, a heater malfunction resulted in smoke that triggered the building’s fire alarm system.
All students and staff followed established safety protocols and evacuated the building quickly and safely. All students were relocated to WHMS with supervision. Emergency personnel have pinpointed the issue, given an “all clear” and students will be returning to their regular classes momentarily.
We want to emphasize that all students are safe.
We are especially grateful for the swift and professional response of our local first responders, whose efforts were instrumental in ensuring the safety of everyone involved. We also appreciate the exceptional cooperation and composure shown by our students and staff throughout the situation. Today’s event underscored both the cohesion of our school community and the importance of preparedness.
Thank you for your continued support and trust.
Sincerely
Superintendent of Schools
Timothy Morgan
