WHMS Lockdown Drill - October 27, 2021

October 20, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians of WHMS Students,

Communications are very important to us at Wayne Highlands School District, as well as safe and successful schools. Throughout the school year, we practice various safety drills to prepare our students, faculty, and staff to respond in the event of an emergency.

All of our schools at Wayne Highlands School District hold fire, weather, and safety drills on a monthly basis in coordination with our Director of School Safety and Security and county emergency teams. Wayne Highlands School District Community takes these drills very seriously, and we are proud of our schools and students, for their well behaved manor during a time of our drills.

On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, the Wayne Highlands Middle School will conduct a lock-down drill during our 7th period. Building Administrators and our Director of School Safety and Security will lead in this type of drill. Our intent is to establish practical safety measures in case of any potential event and to minimize the emotional impact of our students during an actual event or safety drill.

One of the most important steps a parent can take, is to prepare their children for an emergency, reinforcing the significance of listening to and trusting your adult leaders on a daily basis while at school. We encourage you to speak to your student in advance, as well as after the drill to show your encouragement of a successful safety drill.

If you would like to speak to your student's building principal regarding this type of drill, please reach out to us directly.

We appreciate your support and dedication to make our schools the best in our region!

Sincerely,

John D. Kretschmer
