WHMS Lockdown Drill - October 20, 2022

October 11, 20222

Dear Parents/Guardians of WHMS Students,

Communications are very important to us at the Wayne Highlands School District. Throughout the school year, we practice various safety drills to prepare our students, faculty, and staff to respond in the event of an emergency.

All of our schools at the Wayne Highlands School District hold fire, weather, and safety drills on a monthly basis in coordination with our Director of School Safety and Security and county emergency teams. Wayne Highlands School District Community takes these drills very seriously, and we are proud of our schools and students for their conduct during our drills.

On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the Wayne Highlands Middle School will conduct a lock-down drill during period 6. Building Administrators and our Director of School Safety and Security will lead this drill. Our intent is to establish practical safety measures in case of a potential event and to minimize the emotional impact of our students during a situation such as this.

One of the most important steps a parent can take is to prepare his/her child for an emergency, reinforcing the significance of listening to and trusting your adult leaders on a daily basis while at school. We encourage you to speak to your student in advance, as well as after the safety drill.

If you would like to speak to one of your student's building principals regarding this type of drill, please reach out to us directly.

We appreciate your support and dedication to make our schools the best in our region!

Sincerely,

John D. Kretschmer
