Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains - R.E.S.C.U.E. Benjamin B. Stone Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established by the environmental organization "Return Susquehanna County Under Ecology" which halted threatening pollution to that region. This organization provides two post-secondary scholarships to high school graduates who, write a winning essay addressing his or her past environmental interests and accomplishments and describing future plans to protect the environment. Disabled American Veterans Chapter 114 Scholarship Eligibility: Student must have either a parent or grandparent who is a disabled veteran of the armed services. Students must be planning to further their education at a 2 or 4-year college, junior college, technical school or other career institute. The United Way will be offering the Mike Munchak Community Service Scholarship in the amount of $6,300 to a graduating senior within Lackawanna or Wayne County who is actively involved in community service in programs funded by United Way, and who has been accepted to 4 year, 2 year, or trade school. Criteria for this scholarship includes: demonstrate commitment through community service activities, financial need (FAFSA score required), and academic achievement (minimum 2.5 GPA), and a letter of recommendation from community service organization director. The Wayne County Community Foundation Scholarships include the following awards. Students must obtain and submit applications online. Link is below. Deadline to submit: April 1, 2023. WCCF will begin accepting applications on February 1, 2023. All applicants must be Wayne County residents. An official high school transcript must be sent to WCCF office from HHS Guidance Office.
