Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains - R.E.S.C.U.E. Benjamin B. Stone Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the environmental organization "Return Susquehanna County Under Ecology" which halted threatening pollution to that region. This organization provides two post-secondary scholarships to high school graduates who, write a winning essay addressing his or her past environmental interests and accomplishments and describing future plans to protect the environment. Disabled American Veterans Chapter 114 Scholarship – Eligibility: Student must have either a parent or grandparent who is a disabled veteran of the armed services. Students must be planning to further their education at a 2 or 4-year college, junior college, technical school or other career institute. Student should submit a 3" x 5" index card to Mrs. Swendsen - HHS office or via email with the following information: Name of senior, name of parent/grandparent who is disabled and branch of military service, high school name, name of intended college, university, trade school, or military plans, etc. to include proposed major/specialty. Honesdale Freedom Lodge #88 is pleased to offer a fraternal benefit of a scholarship to help our young neighbors grow into future leaders. The Lodge recognizes the need for higher education and the increasing cost of obtaining this goal. This $500 scholarship is now awarded annually to qualified Honesdale High School graduating students who will be attending college or a vocational program after graduation. Scholarship is offered to students who plan to attend a vocational school or college after graduation, and are children of PA workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work related accident resulting in financial hardship. Wayne Conservation District – Perry/Westgate Memorial Scholarship A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one student in Wayne County over a two-year period. The Wayne County Community Foundation Scholarships include the following awards. Students must obtain and submit applications online. Link is below. Deadline to submit:_______________. WCCF will begin accepting applications on February 1, 2022. All applicants must be Wayne County residents. An official high school transcript must be sent to WCCF office from HHS Guidance Office. APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY WCCF OUTSIDE OF WINDOW DATES.

NOTE: In completing the application to Wayne County Community Foundation online, a student may be eligible for any scholarship underlined below as determined by the WCCF Scholarship committee.

Scholarship applications will be accepted February 1 until April 1, 2023.

The Foundation along with our donor partners is committed to providing scholarships for seniors living in Wayne County. Starting in 1991, the number and scope of the scholarships continue to grow. Accompanying the list is a brief explanation of the type and amount of the scholarship. Also listed are other eligibility criteria including which schools/seniors are eligible. Students are responsible to have their guidance counselor send their “Official Transcript” to the Foundation office at 214 Ninth St., Honesdale, PA 18431.

Jake Burkhardt Memorial Scholarship: $500 (1 available): Science major. Eligibility based on need.

Selction: The Scholarship Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Directors will review all applications making recommendation to the Board for its final approval. Students must be Wayne County, PA residents attending either public or private schools or a student at Wallenpaupack Area High School for scholarships specific to Wallenpaupack Area High School Students. Selection is based on academic achievement, community involvement and financial need. The Wayne County Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and make selection aligned with the scholarship sponsor’s directions. Final approval is made by the Wayne County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. Those students selected for scholarship will be notified in writing in early June. Students will then need to respond to that notification with information about the school they have committeed to to be able to issue the scholarship check.

Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary – Ernest and Margaret Lemnitzer Memorial Scholarship – The WMH Auxiliary offers a scholarship to seniors pursuing a career in nursing.
